Dear fellow American,
Our elected leaders in Washington D.C. appear content with a grid-locked and severely partisan political atmosphere. Meanwhile, the American worker and the small business owner, the backbone of this great nation carry the weight of a looming and seemingly insurmountable national debt. Epidemic unemployment, an over-priced health care system, and a tax code in need of prudent simplification, are only a few of the issues that contribute daily towards the rising costs that directly target the pockets of Americans like you and I.
We can no longer accept these burdens to be the result of a "politics as usual” atmosphere. The time has come for us to look amongst ourselves for the solutions that will help our country to politically reaffirm the ideals and standards upon which this nation was created to uphold.
After much comprehensive thought and deliberation between myself, my family, my closest of neighbors, and fellow members of the Houston community, I have decided to seek elected office in your United States Congress, representing the historic and great 18th District of Texas- Houston.
I sincerely hope to gain your much needed support. This campaign will be the definition of a grass-roots effort. I hope to create an opportunity for you to become more familiar with myself and the beliefs of this campaign. We plan to engage in a detailed and much needed conversation with the citizens of the 18th Congressional district and her surrounding areas.
Through diligent work and cooperation, it is my hope that these conversations shall bring about the solutions that can and will remove the political stale-mate that infects our nation capital. With Congress in a vegetative state, secure financial footing and economic opportunity for most American citizens has become a concept of the past. Our current political path is counterproductive and holds no resemblance to the concept of fiscal responsibility. In the coming months, let us discuss solutions and political paths that promote both a fiscal and social growth. Let’s put the hard working American citizen back into the driver’s seat and into every seat of our United States Congress.
For this campaign to be successful it will require great organization and support. With your help in 2012, "A New Voice, A New Choice" could be elected to represent one of the most influential Congressional districts in our nation’s capital. I am highly thankful for the current progress achieved by the Maurice Duhon for Congress Committee but, as the saying goes, “This is only the beginning”. Soon, countless brochures, flyers, and yard signs will be produced. Campaign events and speaking engagements will require facilitation. Though these activities will be exciting and fresh opportunities for political discussion, they will require finances to contain their costs. I could never make this all possible alone. This is why I am turning to the people who know me best, and inviting them to get involved in this campaign and help to make a difference.

This campaign is a grass-roots effort and no donation is considered small or unworthy of great appreciation. Your donation of $5, $10, $20, $50, (maximum $2500 per election cycle) will be resourced to help launch this campaign and introduce a relevant political dialogue and a new fiscal direction, not only for the 18th Congressional district of Texas, but also our great nation as well.
